A Birthday Tribute to Brenda Marshall

Here's a photo tribute to the lovely Brenda Marshall, who was born in the Philippines 99 years ago today, on September 29, 1915.

The longtime wife of William Holden, she always preferred to be called by her real name, Ardis.

Her strongest roles included EAST OF THE RIVER (1940), SINGAPORE WOMAN (1941), and THE CONSTANT NYMPH (1943).

Marshall died in Palm Springs on July 30, 1992.

I've seen nearly all of Brenda Marshall's films, and the majority have been reviewed at Laura's Miscellaneous Musings: BLACKWELL'S ISLAND (1939), ESPIONAGE AGENT (1939) (also here), EAST OF THE RIVER (1940) (also here), SOUTH OF SUEZ (1940) (also here), THE SEA HAWK (1940), SINGAPORE WOMAN (1941), FOOTSTEPS IN THE DARK (1941), YOU CAN'T ESCAPE FOREVER (1942), CAPTAINS OF THE CLOUDS (1942) (also here), BACKGROUND TO DANGER (1943), PARIS AFTER DARK (1943), THE CONSTANT NYMPH (1943), STRANGE IMPERSONATION (1946), and WHISPERING SMITH (1948) (also here).
